Cape Cod is a world-class destination for whale watching. Whether you’re in town on vacation, or if you’re a local looking for an exciting staycation, there’s nothing better than spending a day at sea admiring majestic marine life while enjoying the salty air and the exceptionally beautiful views of the Cape. The whale watching season on Cape Cod whale begins in mid-spring, as hundreds of these magnificent creatures migrate to their summer feeding grounds off the Massachusetts coast. The season comes to an end when the whales head back south for the winter. On the excursion, you’ll get the chance to observe a diverse assortment of whale species. Humpbacks, finbacks, orcas, right whales, and pilot whales are just a handful you may encounter!
With the “Whale of a Time Package” at the Dan’l Webster Inn, you’ll get a night’s lodging at our gorgeous boutique hotel and admission for two adults on a whale watching excursion, plus extra goodies and amenities! Are you ready to go on your whale watching adventure? Welcome aboard!
What to Bring For Your Whale Watching Excursion
In order to enjoy your excursion to the fullest, we suggest you bring a few essentials along with you. Even in the summer months, the breeze out at sea can be quite chilly, so it’s a good idea to pack a sweater, as well as a waterproof jacket to protect from rain and sea spray. For protection against the sun and the glare off the water, bring your sunglasses (preferably polarized), a hat and sunscreen. Wear sneakers, or other comfortable flat, closed-toed shoes with rubber soles for good traction on the boat deck. For those without “sea legs”, it’s a good idea to bring along over-the-counter nausea medicine (make sure you take it at least an hour before the trip), ginger, or an acupressure band. While whales sometimes swim up to the boat, binoculars are great for spotting them off in the distance. Last but not least, make sure your camera is fully charged and you have extra batteries and memory cards. It’s also a good idea to have a strap on your camera or phone so it doesn’t go overboard!
