A Cape Cod Christmas to Remember

Christmas on Cape Cod

When you think of a traditional Christmas morning, what do you think of? Chilly weather, maybe a pre-Christmas snowfall that makes Christmas morning just a little more magical? Snuggling up to a cozy fire with the one you love? All of those things are possible when you decide to take a trip to the Cape during the holidays. What's so great about the Cape during the holidays? It's not only got that quaint, small town feel. There's just something remarkable about it. We hope you'll make time to head out during the holiday season instead of taking our word for it. If you're looking for a visit before Christmas, I highly recommend the Holiday Package. The value included is incredible:

Our Holiday Package Includes

  • Breakfast ($15 voucher)
  • Holiday gift
  • $50 meal allowance
  • Over $100 in Holiday Certificates:

Our Rooms

If you've never been to our Inn to stay as a guest, let me tell you a little about what you can expect. Every room is tastefully decorated. We purchase new furniture and put our own touch of style into it so it reflects the historic nature of our Inn. We like to say there's a little bit of luxury, a little bit of history and a very relaxed, laid back (almost Zen) type of feel here.

If you're looking for a more romantic getaway with a working fireplace, we suggest you take advantage of one of our most requested room types: The Jarves Suites. These suites are one open room and include:

  • One king bed
  • Gas fireplace
  • Oversized whirlpool tub
  • Heated tile floors leading to a 2-person glass enclosed shower
  • Located on the 2nd floor of the Jarves Wing, accessible by elevator

* one Jarves Suite is handicap accessible  - for details on handicap accessible rooms click here

Another romantic option available is one of our Fessenden Suites, which include:

  • Queen canopy or 4-poster bed
  • Decorative fireplace (non-functional)
  • Separate formal sitting room
  • Located in the detached Fessenden House

The Food

If you're planning on coming a day or two before Christmas, our dining room is an amazing option. We served breakfast lunch and dinner almost every day of the year.

For a more informal dining experience, I recommend dining at The Tavern at Dan'l Webster Inn. We've gone to great lengths to replicate the historical tavern that burned down in 1971. Daniel Webster, our Inn's namesake, made regular visits here, as did many Patriots during the Revolution. Here, you can dine on fare like our vegan burger or our buffalo chicken tenders.

If you'd like to really sit, have a nice chat and relax, our conservatory is a great choice. We offer a more extensive menu here. Start with a tasty Cesar Salad or Shrimp Cocktail. From there, you can move on to Lobster Crusted Cod or maybe the Duck Trio is more your speed. Of course we have a full bar, so order your favorite drink and keep them coming. You're on vacation after all! Make your Dan'l Webster dining reservations here.

Since we are closed on Christmas Day (all dining rooms closed), I thought we'd let you in on a couple of other options on Cape Cod that will be open on Christmas Day. You can't go hungry, after all! Villagio Ristorante is a quaint Italian Restaurant that will be serving their normal menu on Christmas Day. I'm sure there are other restaurants open on Christmas, but now is the time to start calling around to ensure they save you a spot!

Well, we naturally have to begin with our sister property, The Cape Codder Resort & Spa. They go all out with a holiday extravaganza called the Enchanted Village.  The dazzling glow of thousands of lights sets the mood for this nostalgic display. Topiary animals will greet you as you make your way past rows of miniature Christmas Trees and Santa's Reindeer to a Santa's Village reminiscent of an old fashioned Enchanted Village. Our light display is on from November 30th - January 1 and is open to the public.

We also have add-on packages for the perfect Cape Cod get away. We're just steps away from Sandwich Glass Museum and they're doing a very festive Glassblower's Christmas! If this sounds like it's an event you would enjoy, just give us a call with your dates and we'll let you know if we can add it on to your stay. If you love light displays and just can't get enough, we can also add on tickets to Gardens Aglow at the Heritage Museums & Gardens.

You probably thought our little town was a sleepy one at Christmas time, but I think we've given you plenty to keep you busy. We hope we see you this holiday season, but if not, we still wish you the happiest of holidays.
